The Hambela coffee estate is located just outside of Yirgacheffe in the Oromia region, the center of many coffee growing communities. This coffee comes to us through METAD, a family owned business that operates the estate and is part of the entire process from seed to harvest to export. METAD runs a training lab certified by the Specialty Coffee Association and prides themselves in their commitment to quality. They also seek to strengthen the local community by reinvesting profits to support education and healthcare initiatives for farmers.
This natural process coffee is dried on raised beds, allowing the sweet sugars from the coffee cherry to dry directly on the seed (coffee bean). The light roast enhances the berry and delicate floral notes, and is rounded out with a sweetness that brings the coffee's excellent qualities together in one cup.
