Grown in the mountainous region of North Kivu, this coffee comes to us from the Katanda washing station in eastern Congo. The producers work with Virunga, a coffee exporter, which was created in 2011 in an effort to improve the lives of coffee farmers and help revitilize the coffee industry in their country. Virunga offers free training to more than 2,000 farmers to improve the quality of their coffee and connects producers to international markets. The coffee is fully washed and dried on raised beds, roasted to highlight sweet, vibrant notes of sugarcane and limeade.
