The Kamviu factory is operated by the Gakundu Farmers’ Cooperative Society, which represents nearly 4,000 smallholders. These farmers grow tea and coffee as their primary crops, but they also raise a variety of produce such as corn, beans, sweet potatoes and bananas.
Coffee from Kamviu is hand-picked, and cherries are delivered to the wet mill the same day they are picked. Cherry sorting is carried out at the wet mill prior to the pulping.
Red ripe cherries are separated from underipes, overipes and foreign matter. Processing utilizes clean water (wet processing) that is recirculated before release into seepage pits. The beans are sun dried on raised tables before delivery of the coffee to the dry mill for secondary processing.
This limited-edition Kenya is graded AA.
