Just ten years ago, Sidama Guji was not recognized as an independent coffee region within the Sidama Zone of Ethiopia. Today, however, thousands of small farmers reside in Guji and take pride in the high quality, clean coffee they produce.
This coffee is grown on high altitudes in the slopes of the Bale Mountains among banana and mango trees, making the soil lush with effervescent flavors. The producers bring their ripe harvest to central washing stations where the cherries are washed with mountain spring water and then pulped the same day. The coffee is stored in a fermentation tank for 72-hours and then sun-dried for over two weeks.
This coffee is roasted to accentuate notes of green tea, peach and vanilla. Vivid flavors that reflect the people of Guji who have cultivated a coffee that is rich in both and history and quality.
