Our Rwanda Gasharu Natural coffee is sourced from the Gasharu Washing Station, which is part of the Gasharu Coffee Company located in the Nyamasheke District of the Western Providence of Rwanda. The Gasharu Coffee Company was started in 1976 by Celestin Rumenerangabo at the age of 17, with just 380 trees.

The business observed tremendous growth for ten years leading up to the Tutsi Genocide in 1994. The genocide caused the business to shut down until 1998. Since then, the Gasharu Coffee Company has worked to build back their business and now employs six full time and 120-150 part-time workers during the peak of their season, increasing the income and improving lives in the community.

The Gasharu Coffee washing station is located on the shores of Lake Kivu in the Nyamasheke district. The hills of the district are covered by 100% Bourbon coffee that is brought to the washing station from 386 farmers from 12 main coffee village farms. This region's elevation, soil, and climate create coffees known for their round, complex profiles packed with citrus and other fruits.
