Nicaragua Selva Negra (2.5LB)
Selva Negra Estate coffee is farmed by the Kuhl family in the mountainous region of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. This family-owned farm dates back to 1883, and is in its sixth generation of coffee cultivation. Eddy and Mausi Kuhl, along with their daughter Heddy, continue the time honored tradition started by their German ancestors who immigrated to Nicaragua for the purpose of starting a coffee plantation. The Selva Negra Estate is committed to environmentally friendly and socially conscious practices. In efforts to continue sustainability, the coffee is shade grown, coffee by-product is used for composting, farmers use a water processing method that decreases water usage forty times than the average commercial mill, and the farmers continue the development of organic weed and pest control in their own labs.
