Duke University120 Science Drive Hours Store Leader: Joanne Pelligra |
Welcomed by Duke Dining Services in the Fall of 2008, we opened our doors to the Duke University community. Located in the Bryan Center, adjacent to the Gothic Bookstore, the shop was initially opened as a to-go style coffee bar due to the limited space. However, we quickly found that students and faculty wanted to hang out for a bit! Offering a few tables inside with an outdoor patio, we’ve immersed ourselves at Duke by working with various oncampus organizations and student groups, including Sustainable Duke and the Nicholas School of the Environment.
2010-2011 Sustainable Duke Green Dining Award: Best Overall Eatery, Best Café
2009-2010 Sustainable Duke Silver Award
The awards were created by students, who used a scorecard of sustainable practices to determine winners based on criteria, like use of local food, educational outreach about sustainable food elements and composting to reduce landfill waste.
